No one wants to play with the broken doll When her hair is falling off and her cloth skin is durty and frayed Her stuffing is all mixed up and some is cotton and some is fake Her parts are mismatched Her dress is faded Her face is worn away Her eyes are dark buttons lazily sewn where sparkling glass beads could have gone
But on the dolls face is a smile She smiles because she knows that maybe she will make at least one little girl happy The doll is seldom sad that she is broken Sometimes she doesn't even notice Especially when her little girl
